Liberty Station San Diego
Liberty Station is a mixed-use development in San Diego, California on the site of the former Naval Training Center. Located in the Point Loma community of San Diego. It has a waterfront location, on a boat channel off of San Diego Bay, just west of the San Diego Airport and a few miles north of Downtown San Diego. The development includes several distinct districts, retail and commercial district, a promenade focused on nonprofit activities, an educational district, a residential district, a hotel district, an office district, and a park/open space area along the boat channel. And now A BRAND NEW PERMANENT OUTDOOR ICE RINK by DSB Management And Associates.
We completed the project in five (5) weeks. Green field to finished floor. The project was constructed in grueling 90 degree days. I never thought as a Canadian staring down winter I would say to myself I have had enough sun, but the beautiful blue skies were relentless, not a cloud passed until the day of the pour. Perfect timing slight overcast lite mist and the pour was flawless.
The rink was 108′ x 61′ with 17′ radius corners. Floor was set to meet a 40/50 flatness but was ultimately built with a 1/2% slope for drainage. We applied a custom mix to meet the requirements within the region. We combined plasticizers, aggregate and a strong Cementitious ratio to deliver a self-consolidating system that could work within the 9.5″ x 9.5″ ½” rebar matte, 1″ pipes 3″ on center and a 4 x 4 x 4 mesh in 6″ of concrete. Final Test Strength 7490 PSI
